Prep 4’s Anglo-Saxon Adventure: A Journey Back in Time
Last week, Prep 4 embarked on an exciting historical adventure, stepping into the shoes of Anglo-Saxons as they returned to their woodland settlement. Dressed in period attire, they worked under the leadership of their Thane, Imogen, to bring their settlement to life.

The children built and reinforced shelters, using natural materials to recreate the resourcefulness of the Anglo-Saxon era. They got creative by devising traditional games and crafting handmade rag dolls and toys, just as children would have done centuries ago. Fully immersed in their roles, they tended to the animals, collecting eggs from the chickens and feeding the pigs—an essential part of daily life in an Anglo-Saxon village.
The experience was rounded off with a well-earned feast, where the children cooked and enjoyed authentic Anglo-Saxon cakes alongside freshly made scrambled eggs. Through teamwork and hands-on learning, they deepened their understanding of history in a fun, interactive way.

This immersive day not only brought history to life but also fostered collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving—key skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom. A truly unforgettable experience!
