Fa la la, la la la, la la la!

As you might expect, the run-up to Christmas is always a very busy time in the Music department and this year is no exception. Since half-term, we have held a Remembrance Evensong and two Instrumental Concerts but with six major events involving pupils from all areas of the school coming up in the next two weeks, the children are working particularly hard to get everything ready.

Although there is a lot of song learning and word learning for the children at the end of a busy term, we do find that they are more than ready to take on the challenge. Naturally they do not need to be encouraged to be excited about Christmas and events such as the Christmas Open Morning are always very popular with the pupils. This year we shall hear a range of songs from each of the classes, some well-known Christmas favourites but also one or two new items. Listen out for tales of Christmas in other lands, a missing Rudolf, and three ultra-cool Wise Men.

In the Pre-Prep and the Nursery, rehearsals are now coming to a head for the Christmas production, this year involving a whole range of Christmas characters, not just those like the Angel who are part of the Nativity story, but also Father Christmas, a Snowwoman, and a Christmas Tree with a Present underneath!

Parents often remark that the Carol Service marks the start of Christmas for many. This year, we shall again have two services, one for Grandparents of pupils in the school and local pensioners and a candlelit service for parents. Naturally the Senior Chapel Choir are really looking forward to leading these events and we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to as many of the upcoming festivities as possible.
