Visit us at the Independent Schools Show, Battersea
We'll be at the Independent Schools show on Sat 11 and Sun 12 November celebrating our idyllic Cotswold setting. The 26 acres of grounds, from the sweeping lawns to the beautiful woodland, offer our boys and girls wonderful opportunities for outdoor learning, exploring, challenging themselves and enjoying the adventure of childhood. Visit us at the Independent Schools Show in London to find out more.
Diwali Day Celebrations!
Diwali Day
Today we celebrated Diwali, a popular Hindu festival commencing on Thursday 19th October. We had an assembly by Freya, Ellie and Ella who informed us about some of the Hindu practices, beliefs and customs.
Nursery to Pre-Prep made some lanterns and rangoli patterns, Prep 3-7 made clay Diwali lamps and Prep 8 made chicken curry. Then we all enjoyed a delicious Indian curry for lunch. We've all enjoyed a lovely day of celebration and fun!
Prep 6 Science – elastic limits!
Prep 6 have started the topic of Forces. A notoriously fun and interactive topic that provides lots of opportunity to develop investigative skills. After creating their own Newton Metres in their previous lesson, the children were interested in conducting an investigation into elastic limit. They wanted to investigate the perfect recipe to make the ‘stretchiest’ slime, as if we needed an excuse to get all messy!
Hatherop Castle Harvest Festival
Today the Pre-Prep and Prep children participated in our Harvest Festival. It was wonderful to see so many of their families turning up in support. The pupils worked hard to learn the words to many songs and poems, and performed these with confidence. We were very privileged to have two members of The Salvation Army visit the school and say a few words to the children about where their donations were going.
Boarders’ den decorating
At the beginning of term the boarders asked if we could decorate their den, so Sunday was the day for the transformation!
