Trips and Excursions
Hatherop Castle summer school isn’t just about learning, it’s about experiencing the best of British culture. Students take part in weekly excursions to historic and discover the beauty of the English countryside. These trips not only offer a break from studies, but also give students the chance to use their English outside the classroom.
Full-day Excursions
Warwick Castle

Week 1
Step into the world of medieval kings, queens and legends. Hatherop Castle Summer School students enjoy a full day out exploring the famous towers and interactive exhibitions at Warwick Castle. A popular excursion, where British history comes to life through live shows, storytelling and hands-on
activities.
Legoland

Week 2
A fun and entertaining day out at Legoland, Windsor, children enjoy the rides and LEGO® model village and displays at one of the UK’s most popular theme parks. With everything inspired by or designed from LEGO® it’s a memorable day and a firm favourite with former students at Hatherop Castle Summer School.
Half-day Wednesday Excursions
Slimbridge Wetlands Centre

Week 1
A nature-focused trip introducing students to British wildlife and conservation. Guided walks, bird-watching and pond-dipping allow students to explore ecosystems and biodiversity. Designed to support the language and learning of the science and geography themed lessons.
We The Curious, Bristol

Week 2
A hands-on science centre where curiosity leads the way. Students experiment, explore and interact with exhibits covering everything from space to sustainability. A fantastic opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting.
Half-day Sunday Excursion
Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens

Week 1
A relaxed weekend outing where students encounter animals from around the world, against the beautiful backdrop of a 19th century Manor House. A chance to enjoy the outdoors, reflect on the science themes taught as part of the English learning programme and enjoy time with new friends.
