Boarding: Roller Disco, Bowling and Countryside Walks
Boarding life at Hatherop Castle School is full of variety, shared experiences and memorable moments, and the weekend of 30 January – 1 February was no exception.
The weekend began with an energetic Friday evening trip to a roller disco in Cheltenham, where boarders enjoyed over an hour of skating, music and games in a large sports hall. From confident skaters gliding effortlessly to those showing resilience after the odd tumble, the evening was filled with laughter, encouragement and team spirit. After such an active start, the children returned to school tired but happy, settling quickly for a restful night.

Saturday offered a more relaxed pace, with a late start before travelling to Swindon for an afternoon of ten-pin bowling and shopping. There were plenty of strikes, some inventive bowling techniques and lots of shared enjoyment, even as the rain made brief appearances throughout the afternoon.
On Sunday, the boarders enjoyed an on-site day that reflected the calmer side of boarding life. A countryside walk to Coln St Aldwyns, joined by a much-loved school dog, provided fresh air and time to unwind. Creative sessions in the Art Studio followed, along with relaxed time around the Castle, before the weekend concluded with a traditional roast dinner enjoyed together.

Weekends like this highlight the richness of boarding at Hatherop, combining adventure, creativity, friendship and downtime within a nurturing and supportive environment where children can thrive.
