Weekends in Boarding: An Exciting Line-Up at Hatherop Castle School
At Hatherop Castle School, weekends for our boarders are anything but ordinary. With a jam-packed schedule of engaging activities and excursions, every child has the opportunity to make the most of their time in boarding. From active adventures to creative workshops and academic focus sessions, we ensure our weekends are filled with fun, exploration, and growth. Here’s a glimpse into what’s on offer this Lent term.
January Adventures
We kick off the year with a blend of action and creativity. Boarders can bounce into fun at the trampoline park on Saturday, 11th January, followed by a relaxing swim on Sunday. The following weekend, there’s an English Focus Hour with Mr Bowen (18th January), providing a fantastic academic boost before diving into roller skating and unleashing their inner artist during Sunday’s “Art Attack” session.
February Fun
February promises excitement and discovery, starting with a visit to Cadbury’s World on Saturday, 1st February, where boarders will enjoy a sweet adventure. On Sunday, they’ll explore nature in Forest School. Mid-month brings the thrills of Bath city exploring, shopping, and a treasure hunt (8th February), before stepping into the kitchen for a “Ready, Steady, Cook!” competition the next day.
The month also welcomes the return of “Ghosts in the Garden,” a favourite amongst our pupils, where they’ll try to reach base without being spotted within our beautiful grounds.
March Magic
As spring approaches, we’ve lined up activities to keep spirits high. On 1st March, Maths Focus with Mr Hammond offers academic enrichment before heading to Gloucester Ski for an afternoon of tubing fun. Later in the month, boarders can look forward to Science Focus with Mr McConnell (8th March), a visit to Roves Farm, and a creative exploration at We The Curious in Bristol (15th March). The term wraps up with a delightful Sherborne Walk and Easter egg hunt on 16th March.
A Balanced Weekend Life
Boarders can also enjoy our regular Games Nights on Fridays and swimming sessions to wind down on Tuesdays. The schedule ensures a balance between relaxation, learning, and adventure, embodying the spirit of the adventure of childhood.
Whether it’s tubing, bowling, or exploring historic cities, weekends at Hatherop Castle School are all about creating memories and encouraging our boarders from prep 3 – 8 to try new things.
