Creative Term in the Art Studio at Hatherop Castle School
This term has been incredibly busy and creative in the Art Studio at Hatherop Castle School. Children from Reception to Prep Six have honed their drawing skills, while Prep Seven and Eight delved into the formal elements of art. Our youngest artists in Nursery enjoyed themed activities, creating mixed media firework collages, birthday candles, and Stars of David for Hannukah.
Reception had fun with abstract art and chalk pastel sunflowers, while Prep One explored contour lines and created vibrant Harvest baskets and winter scenes. Prep Two drew inspiration from Van Gogh and Roy Lichtenstein, and Prep Three embraced cubism with Paul Klee-inspired Christmas trees. Prep Four studied landscapes, creating works in the style of Nick Coldham, and Prep Five focused on still life and the concept of positive and negative space. Prep Six mastered one-point perspective, producing stunning cityscapes and festive scenes inspired by LS Lowry. Prep Seven and Eight explored the formal elements of art and are now working on David Hockney-inspired Joiners images.
The Aspire and Arts Award groups have been busy with various projects, developing their skills across different media and building impressive portfolios. A special thank you goes to all the children and families who participated in this term’s Art Challenge, contributing over 30 stunning dioramas. Your creativity and enthusiasm have made this term truly memorable.
