WOW Day – Prep 1 & their Rainforest visit…

Prep 1 went to the rainforest today! We all dressed up for our WOW Day and took part in a costume parade – there were lots of jungle explorers, monkeys, butterflies and even a parrot! We began the day by finding out a little more about the rainforest; learning about the climate, the animals who live there and the different layers that make up the vegetation.

We spent the rest of the morning creating lots of different animals using paper plates. We have made monkeys, sloths, parrots, snakes and toucans by cutting, sticking and painting the plates.

In the afternoon we went to the PAC and listened to some rainforest sounds. We then tried to move like some of the animals we could hear; moving slowly and hanging upside down like a sloth and curling up tight like a snake. After this we looked in the atlases to identify the rainforests, and found out how far away from Hatherop they are!

We all had a fantastic day and are looking forward to our trip to The Living Rainforest in June and the rest of this exciting topic.
