World Book Day

Last week Hatherop Castle enjoyed a literacy week and the events have culminated in a cold and snowy World Book Day. World Book Day, is the annual celebration of books, authors and illustrators, which saw a snowy Hatherop Castle transformed on 1st March. It was an opportunity to inspire a love of reading in all children – and also for pupils and teachers to dress up as their favourite fictional characters.

However, despite the cold snap, both children and staff were not put off, and there was a wonderful array of costumes to be seen, and some very inventive uses of potatoes to create book characters! It is also great to see how many of the children are reading in creative and varied places, both at home and further afield.

Congratulations to everyone who entered, competition winners will be announce next week. We are now looking forward to the next event – A Play in A Day on the 12th March, run by The Oxford Playhouse.
