What a start for our Kindergarten children

We have had a fantastic start to the new academic year in Kindergarten; eight new children have joined the happy band and are now well settled in. It is lovely to see several children return to the class and to see some emerging friendships develop.

The late summer sun has allowed us to be outside for much of the day and visits to Forest School or the adventure playground have kept the children busy and active. PE on the astro with Mr Bailey is a highlight of the week where the children are learning to control their bodies to stop and change direction as well as develop their ball skills. Listening to and following instructions is a new skill for some children and this can sometimes be a challenge when out and about.

Music with Mr Page is another highlight which the children look forward to on Wednesdays. Often he will bring a new instrument for the children to listen to and try out and this is always popular. Daily songs and rhymes all help to develop early language skills and a sense of rhyme and rhythm.

The nursery day is simply packed with exciting activities and opportunities for learning and no two days are the same. Watching the children develop in self-confidence and self-esteem when they are so little is the most rewarding part of my job and I am thrilled that they are all doing so well.
