U11B Girls Netball vs Rendcomb
Player of the match: Ottie Saunders
Score: 6-4 to Hatherop
The girls played a very close 5-aside game against Rendcomb. The girls worked well as a team and moved the ball around the court well. It was great to see that the practice had paid off from the training ground, enabling them to showcase their skills on the court
U13B Girls Netball vs Dean Close
Player of the match: Lucia Vilarino
Score: 11-9 to Hatherop
A great game which was end to end. At the start of the 4th quarter we were 2 goals down. However, the girls dug deep, improved the speed of their passes and the movement was strong enabling them to get the ball into Ava and Alexa to score 4 goals which gave Hatherop the win. All the girls played their part in a close game.
Boys’ Sport
U9B v Rendcomb U9A
Player of the match: Thomas C
Score: Rendcomb 2 – Hatherop 1
The balance of the fixture was perfect, with both sides trying extremely hard. Hatherop took an early lead, with a well taken goal from Thomas. Rendcomb equalised just before 1/2 time. With less than 5 minutes to play, Rendcomb gained possession and scored the winning goal. I was particularly pleased with the boys’ effort and work ethic throughout the game. We must remember to control the ball, look up and pass wide or up field into the space.
Colts B v St Edwards
Player of the match: Lucas M
Score: Hatherop 2 – St Edwards 1
A game very much of two half’s today as Hatherop took on a good St Edwards team. St Edwards were the better team in the first half and lead 1-0 going in to the break. After halftime though Hatherop were very much on top and scored an early equaliser from Ned! Hatherop continued to dominate the game and were being driven forward from there Captain Lucas. After a few close efforts Hatherop found a winner 10 minutes from time from Oliver. Well done to the boys for giving 100% effort from start to finish.
Colts C v St Edwards
Player of the match: Tucker Meyer
Score: Hatherop 1 – St Edwards 0
A cracking game of football which ebbed and flowed beautifully for 30 minutes. The game could have gone either way but some dominant midfield work saw Hatherop gain the upper hand in the dying minutes and cling on to their slender lead. A real nail biter but ultimately a famous win for the undefeated Colts C team.
1st Boys Hockey v Dean Close
Player of the match: Felix Aspray
Score: Hatherop 5 – Dean Close 5
We played a well drilled and skilful VII on Wednesday. HCS took a quick lead scoring twice. Dean Close soon struck back scoring 3 times in rather quick succession leaving the game 3-2 at half time. After some wise words, HCS game back quickly levelling the score, however, Dean Close passed extremely well scoring twice more. HCS held firm, however, and though some excellent team and individual play, managed to score 2 more goals to end the game 5-5. It was by far the most dramatic game of the season so far. Once again Sam Farr played a pivotal role as keeper, diving full length to save goals. A special mention should go to Max Matthews who came as a substitute but did not get on; although disappointed he supported his team throughout the match.
