The importance of making your bed!

I like to start my day with positives and to feel that I have achieved something before the rest of my day begins. It starts with making my bed, a small task in many ways but one for me that is hugely important. A wonderful speech given by Admiral William McRaven about changing the world, starts with the importance of making your bed.

Within the boarding house, this is also one of the first lessons given to any new boarder. Every morning before leaving for school, beds need to be made and rooms tided. A sense of ownership and responsibility is borne out of even the smallest task. Within the boarding house, we have a collective responsibility to look after each other and we begin this with taking pride in where we live. A tidy home helps create a tidy brain. There is nothing better than when your day has finished, you get to jump into a nicely made bed.
