The Adventures of Pre Prep

What an exciting first week back it’s been for our new Nursery and Reception children. They have truly begun their adventure of childhood, exploring the grounds and new classrooms and meeting new friends – children, adults and animals(!)

Nursery have been settling into their new routines and getting to know each other, enjoying playing, both outside and in. They’ve met Mr Bailey for Gym, Madame Thomas for French and Miss Gore Browne for music and had great fun.

Whilst in Transition the children are immersed in the topic of Bears and will be having fun with all kinds of activities, including hunting for bear footprints in Forest School and finding out some interesting facts about bears. The Kindergarten class are already busy learning about colours and have started off the week with a red theme, making handprints and having fun with paint and collage.

In Reception, as well as learning their Jolly Phonic sounds, practicing their counting and designing rockets to transport their friendly aliens, the children have been meeting some very special new friends. Perhaps they’ve had a chat with the talkative toad, played with the sporty squirrel or measured the mathematical mouse! These woodland creatures will help the children throughout the year to explore the different areas of learning, making the journey through EYFS even more exciting and engaging – more information will follow in due course.

The first years of school are a magical and exciting time, so much will be learned and experienced… we are thrilled to be part of their adventure!
