Highlights from the week in PE

Children in Prep 3 have been working hard this week in tennis and are trying master starting in the ready position before hitting the ball on the forehand. We will be moving on to focus on the backhand next week.

Girls sport

On Wednesday the U10 and U11 girls played against Kings Gloucester away.

The U11’s had a really strong start to the game, but struggled to get used to the size of the pitch and the space which resulted in them losing 3-2. It was a good start to the season and an unfortunate loss. Player of the match was Isla Thomas. The U10’s unfortunately lost 0-3 but there was some good hockey played and the girls know what they need to improve on. Players player went to Isla B whilst coaches player went to Erin E.
6 girls also travelled to Dean Close on Monday for a sports day. Well done to all those who took part but congratulations to Isla Thomas & Matilda Cowan who were awarded ‘Players’ of the day’.

Boys sports

Boys sports this week—Congratulation to Freddy Meredith who was awarded ‘Player of the day’ at the recent Dean Close Rugby Skills Day. On Wednesday, the senior boys’ travelled to Cricklade manor to play against Wycliffe. A dominating display of good rugby skills on show. Many positives were taken from both fixtures. The U12B lost 40-20 and the U12As won 55-20. The sports’ department started the ‘HILT’ sessions with the scholars this week. Conditioning was the focus this week.

Sports Reminders

Question: Which is the oldest swimming stroke and the least successful at the Olympics? Can Gloucester beat Saracens on Sunday?

Prep 3-8: Please remember to look at the Games Notice Board and to speak to your Form Teacher so you know if you are having an early lunch on Match day.
