U9A & B Cricket v Beaudesert

Save the best for last. After a great day at cirencester cc the boys were buzzing and super confident. We started the match against Beaudesert with an excellent bowling display. The energy in the field was outstanding. We took 6 wickets and made some excellent acrobatic and brave catches. Frankly, we couldn’t have been better. The batting display was magical with the school building taking a bombardment from huge sixes. A perfect end to a great season.

On a hot afternoon the two teams played some great cricket. Batsmen from both teams played some wonderful cricket shots, watching the ball carefully and using their feet to get to the pitch of the ball. Batting first, Beaudesert scored well, making 103 runs. Hatherop bowled and fielded well, achieving some run outs and making some great catches. The Hatherop run chase went well with some good shot selection and quick running between the wickets. In the end, it came down to the last over which Hatherop successfully negotiated to win by 2 runs.

Prep 5 Sailing @ South Cerney

P5 had a wonderful time sailing on Tuesday evening. The blue azure water matched the sky and it was a perfect evening for boating on the water. The children got kitted out and rigged their boats and spent two hours enjoying the ideal sailing conditions. The children enjoyed their experience and no one had to walk the plank, although the occasional capsize was a welcome relief on the hottest day of the year!

U9A & B County Cricket Festival @ Cirencester CC

We sent two teams to Cirencester CC on Tuesday morning for a festival of cricket in the sunshine. Playing a combination of 6 games, we won 5 and lost just one with some excellent bowling and powerful ball striking. A lovely day had by all.

U8 Rounders v Kitebrook

For our final match of the year, the U8 girls were all really keen to finish with a win. They started fielding strongly and were able to keep the Kitebrook score to 4 ½. We then followed with a positive batting innings and at half time, we were ahead by just ½ a rounder. We then fielded carefully which meant Kitebrook could only manage to finish on a total of 7. We quickly took our score to within 1 rounder of Kitebrooks’ score but it took until the final few balls to creep ahead, so our U8 girls won the match 8 ½ – 7. What a fantastic way to complete the year.

Colts A & B Cricket v Beaudesert

Colts A – On a glorious day for cricket Hatherop lost the toss and were sent to bat. Over 20 overs Hatherop managed an impressive 122 for 6 with an individual score of 33 leading the charge. Unfortunately in the field the going was tougher and although no opposition batsman scored highly Hatherop let too many extras go to the opposition. Always behind the run out Hatherop held out but ultimately fell short after 19 overs – a close game but not our day.

A very close and friendly game between two evenly matched teams. Hatherop batted first and set a very competitive score of 265 from a 200 start. Hatherop batted well, demonstrated some lovely shots and quick running between the wickets. Beaudesert then set about trying to run down Hatherop’s target! Hatherop bowled beautifully but couldn’t find that all important wicket. Beaudesert went on to score 273 and win the game by only 8 runs.

1stCricket 6s v St Francis & Cricklade Manor

The 1st played a 6’s 3 way match against St Francis and Cricklade Manor on Wednesday 27th June. The first match against St Francis saw some slick wicket keeping from some good bowling. We reduced St Francis to 27 runs making this easily through a combination of Hatherop’s batting. The second game against Cricklade Manor saw some outstanding fielding. Again the batting saw Hatherop win the game comfortably. We ended this season unbeaten; well done to all of the boys.
