Snow update from Hatherop Castle

Dear Parents,
As you are all probably experiencing, Hatherop Castle is also covered in snow and as I write the snow is still falling heavily. It’s a beautiful picture and very exciting but it does present some logistical complications.
Based on the weather forecast for the next 24 hours the decision has been taken that there will NO formal school or lessons on Monday 11th December. The Pre-Prep nativity dress rehearsal will be cancelled. Please bear in mind that the school has been without electricity for most of the day (it has just come back on!), which affects our phone lines and internet connection, so communication is challenging.
The School will remain open and staff who can get in to school will happily supervise our boarders and any day children who want to come in and can do so SAFELY. We will not be running any minibus services in the morning or evening on Monday. Please be mindful that the road from Coln St Aldwyns up to school is likely to be treacherous if coming from that direction.
If you do decide to bring your children in please ensure they come to the office to be signed in. They will need appropriate clothing, hats, gloves and waterproof trousers. Some of the activities will be outside in the snow, so there will be no need for school uniform.
Please feel free to collect your child at anytime during the day, but the children must be signed out from the office. Last pick up will be 4.15pm due to safe travelling conditions.
Further communication regarding the plans for Tuesday will be circulated on Monday afternoon, however, at present it is expected that School will be open as normal and the Pre-prep Nativity performance will happen as scheduled.
