Prep Sports Day

It was a glorious sunny afternoon for the Prep School Sports Day. The children were full of excitement.

The day began with a record broken in the U11 Boys 1500m, with a time of 5 minutes 40 seconds, a record that has stood for nearly 10 years. A very fast Prep 5 boy ran well in the U11 boys 75m sprint. He enjoys running and finally broke the school record, (again over 10 years old) in a time of 9.75s.

We were certainly treated to some fabulous performances. I was delighted to see so many children doing so well. Hard work and determination can really pay off! One athlete broke the 200m record and also in the 800m, with a time of 2.52s. The U11 girls 800m record was set 15 years ago. I knew at the time when this record was set, it would take an exceptional runner to beat it. Will it last another 15 years?

We had 10 new school records being broken, and it was the 2nd highest number achieved for Sports Day. The children’s delight in sharing in the experiences of their peers and those around them was just fantastic. Something that Hatherop does extremely well.
