Prep 6 Evacuation Experience

Prep 6 packed up their troubles in their old kit bags as they prepared for their Evacuation Experience at Winchcombe Railway Station this week.

As part of their project on The Home Front, the children were given the opportunity to handle original artefacts, undergo an air raid drill and put out fires – well, fill a bucket with 1940s’ stirrup pumps. Most excitingly, they travelled on a steam train and met and chatted with evacuees from the war; sadly, an ever decreasing, valuable resource.
