Iggity, ziggity, zaggity, zoom!

The October half term holiday club has started off with an ‘Iggity, ziggity, zaggity, zoom!’, as the children have been exploring the popular children’s book Room on the Broom.

So far the boys and girls have engaged in a wide variety of play activities – they have been busy creating their own magic wands and witches hats to re-enact the story, making lolly-stick puppets of the characters and producing their own scenarios with the small-world props.

Snack time has involved magic too! The children have made edible wands, chopping and selecting the fruit themselves and cutting out a delicious pancake star for the top. Then, for their lunch, they built their own ‘horrible beasts’; marshmallow monsters covered in chocolate mud!

Next, the children were off on broomsticks, all of their own design. The children chose who to take on their journey; each carefully selecting and cutting out their passengers, thrilled that they were in the driving seat.

Next week, the adventure continues when we will fill cauldrons with potions and brews and go for a hunt through the woods for the Witch’s lost belongings and cast new spells ready for Halloween!
