House Music Competition

The annual Hatherop songfest took place on the afternoon of Friday 10th February and proved once again what a unique event the House Singing Competition is in the school calendar. As ever, competition between the houses (and the house staff!) was fierce and there were some impressive performances throughout the afternoon.

Perhaps the most memorable aspect of the competition is the way that the each house comes together, children and ALL staff, to perform their songs. This year’s set song, ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’, from Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ was sung with great energy but also with great individuality by each house. In the own choice songs, the standard of achievement was also impressive, showcasing singing ability, lively choreography and great humour – sometimes all three at the same time!

The very deserved overall winner was the house of Bazley, though there was little to choose between the houses and the judges had to deliberate long and hard. Our thanks go to all those on the judging panel and we look forward to another keenly contested competition in 2018.
