Hatherop Castle Sports Day

Nursery Sports Day

Nursery Sports is an event eagerly anticipated by all; the practice in the preceding weeks paid off and everyone was ready for the big day. Challenges such as the obstacle course and the balance bike relay put Transition through their paces whilst the younger Kindergarten class were faced with the teddy race and collecting balls to put in the bucket. The favorite though had to be the egg and spoon, if only for the look of concentration on the children’s faces as they gingerly advanced towards the finishing tape with their precious cargo. All ended happily with a certificate of participation and a well-deserved ice lolly.

Pre-Prep & Prep School Sports Day

Having seen the children develop their running skills, co-ordination and physical development over the term, I was confident that the Pre-Prep would do well. The Pre-Prep Sports Day is always a bright colorful and vibrant occasion. I thought Reception did extremely well in each of their events. I love the ‘Sack Race’ which never fails to make me smile. Well done to the children who participated in this race – they were all real “speedster’s in the making”. The Mixed Boys and Girls U6 4 x 50m Relay was a close race. Well done to Moorhead, a super team effort- they just missed out on breaking the school record! I thought the Pre-Prep children showed great determination and resilience throughout the morning. They also managed to smile throughout!

Prep 3-8 Sports Day

It was a glorious sunny afternoon for the Prep School Sports Day.. The children were full of excitement and were eager to get involved in what lay ahead. In the U9 Boys 50m Sprint Heat for Bazley, the current school record was beaten, with a time of 7.56 seconds! An incredibly exciting series of races, well done! It literally went by in a flash. The afternoon came to a conclusion with a fantastic ‘Tug-of-War’ contest between Bazley and Moorhead. The 2nd Pull-Off lasted well over 2 minutes – that’s a record in itself. With 12 new school records being broken it was the highest ever recorded in any one year/event. I was thrilled to witness some of the new records achieved yesterday. To see the delight on the faces of the children, not only those who won, but also in each of the House Areas. The children’s delight in sharing in the experiences of their peers and those around them was just fantastic. Something that Hatherop does extremely well. The winners’ of Sports Day 2018 – 1st place we had – 1st Moorhead 2nd Fyfe, 3rd Bazley.
