Hatherop Castle – Snow Update

Dear Parents,

Thank you for the flexibility you have shown today with regards to the weather and our arrangements. As promised, I am outlining the school’s arrangements for tomorrow based on the current conditions and weather forecast for the next 24 hours.

It has been decided that school will be open tomorrow between 9am and 3pm for those children who can safely make it into school. Boarders will be looked after and cared for as usual, however if you wish to collect your children early before the weekend please do email Mrs Easterbrook to arrange this.

The following arrangements for day children have been made:

  • There will be no buses running at all tomorrow
  • Children can be dropped off from 9am in the Dr Moorhead room
  • Collection will be by 3pm in the afternoon
  • Children can wear home clothes, but it must be suitable for the weather. I.e. warm coat, hat, gloves, scarf and protective footwear

Due to the difficulties some staff will have in getting into school we will not be having lessons and so there will be combination of indoor and outdoor activities arranged. However, it is unlikely due to the severe cold temperatures that we will be able to spend long periods of time outside as we have in previous ‘snow days’.

I am sure normal service will resume on Monday. Please take care on the roads and when out and about.

Best Wishes

Nigel J Reed
