Future Firefighters in Training

The boarders were treated to a tour of the local fire station on Wednesday evening. We are very lucky at Hatherop Castle that our Site Manager Mr Freebury is also a retained firefighter and he kindly showed us around the station. The boarders thoroughly enjoyed trying on the firefighting kit and especially enjoyed wearing the helmet with the reflective visor, they thought this was very cool.

They all then got to sit in the fire engine strapping themselves into the ready for action! It was then time for the part all them were looking forward to – spraying water from the fire hose! It is wonderful for the boarders to learn more about the community they live in and the people who keep us all safe. It was a really enjoyable early evening treat and was appreciated by all as you can see from some of the photos.

A big thank you to Mr Freebury for showing us around.
