The fun never stops for Nursery Holiday Club
Yet again, the Nursery Holiday Club has been busy busy busy throughout the summer! Despite the weather the children have thoroughly enjoyed the activities available and have made the most of their time.
For holiday provision the children in Nursery have been using different stories as their source of inspiration to create some wonderful projects!
We started off the summer learning all about ‘The Gruffalo’; finding creatures hiding in the “deep dark wood”, cooking up some scrambled snake (which was surprisingly popular) and making our very own masks to resemble characters from the story. But the fun didn’t stop there. We quickly moved on to ‘The Duck in the Truck’, where the children got messy in the mud and had enormous fun washing Mrs Males’ car – this quickly turned into a very wet and muddy water fight! ‘The Scarecrows Wedding’ saw the children designing their own scarecrows, going on a scavenger hunt and creating a life-sized scarecrow for the garden.
Our next stop on the story book adventure was ‘The Teddy Bear’s Picnic.’ The children were thrilled to find out that we were going to make jam from our freshly picked blackberries – one of the many attributes of the beautiful school grounds. We baked cookies and made sandwiches and set off for our picnics (along with our Teddy Bears of course). Luckily the weather was on our side and we were able to have a delicious picnic on the back lawn.
Our final week was based on the lesser known book ‘Splash’, where we turned our ‘home corner’ into an ice cream parlour, went rock pooling in our homemade rock pool and took a trip around the world with each child picking a destination on the globe, with their holiday club passport and suitcase at the ready they set off! The children have enjoyed every minute of Holiday Club, and have had a huge amount of fun.
We look forward to the October half term, when witches, dragons and caves come to life in the Nursery…
