Welcome back!
Autumn is very much upon us as we welcome back all the pupils, parents and staff from their half term break. The leaves are changing colour and are scattered across the grounds giving wonderful flashes of orange, yellow and brown. It was lovely seeing the children enjoy the Halloween disco a couple of weeks ago and I am grateful to the Parents Association and staff for their hard work in organising it. We are all looking forward to the Fireworks evening on Friday. The bonfire is being built as I write and the houses this week will be busy finishing their house Guy to put on top of the bonfire.
Apart from the Fireworks we have lots of other activities and events to look forward to as we begin the run up to the festive period. I am looking forward to seeing the Pre-Prep and Nursery in their Nativity Production as well as hearing the choir sing in church at our Remembrance Evensong and Carol Services.
Our sports team will be busy over the next few weeks playing a variety of schools home and away. It has been a good start to the rugby, hockey and fencing seasons with teams securing impressive victories and performances so far. I notice from the calendar our swimmers will be in action towards the end of November in the ISA regional finals.
Aside from the extra-curricular activities the children are working hard in the classroom. Prep 8 are busily preparing for their CE mock exams in a couple of weeks and Prep 5 & 7 are taking CAT tests this week. We wish them well and I am sure their hard work will be rewarded.
There is a wonderful feel and buzz about Hatherop Castle and we am looking forward to a busy and productive 2nd half of term.
