We’re Double Excellent
We recently celebrated the highest possible rating in our Independent Schools Inspectorate report – Double Excellent!
The inspectors recognised that “the school fully meets its aim to provide an environment in which pupils can thrive whilst enjoying the adventure of childhood” and that “pupils achieve considerable success beyond the classroom, benefiting greatly from using the excellent facilities“.

Nestled in the beautiful Cotswold countryside
Hatherop Castle sits within the pretty village of Hatherop near Cirencester, just a 10 minute drive from Lakes by Yoo.
School life buzzes in and around our magnificent castle building, which dates back to Tudor times and has an incredibly exciting history. More recently, it has served as our happy school for the past 50 years.
Set amongst 22 acres of glorious grounds, it’s a magical place where children can explore and play in safety. It also boasts some fantastic facilities, including a brand new all weather pitch, science labs, tennis courts, a treehouse classroom and an impressive modern Performing Arts Centre.

Fantastic outcomes in and beyond the classroom
Whilst providing a safe, happy and stimulating environment, we challenge pupils to be ambitious academically. Our expert and enthusiastic teachers deliver high quality, specialist teaching aimed at providing pupils with the ability make accelerated progress in all subjects.
The inspiring and broad curriculum, paired with our small class sizes, allows the children to really engage with their education and develop a genuine love of learning.
This is proven by our brilliant outcomes. Hatherop Castle feeds into a wide range of the region’s top senior schools. Our carefully tailored Common Entrance programme ensures that all children go on to their first choice of senior school, often with scholarships and awards.
Leavers’ destinations include schools like Eton College, Wycombe Abbey, Marlborough College, Westonbirt School, Cheltenham College, Pate’s Grammar School and Radley College.
