If you are interested in joining Hatherop Castle School, we warmly welcome visits from parents and children either by appointment or at one of our termly Open Mornings.

To book an appointment for a private tour of the school with the Headmaster, please fill out the form via the button below and we will be in touch to arrange a time that suits you.

The Admissions Process

Joining Hatherop Castle School Prep follows a clear and simple admissions process. We have an open door policy, inviting prospective parents to contact us at any time throughout the year to arrange a visit to the school to meet the Head, Nigel Reed.

We also hold a number of Open Days and events throughout the year providing further opportunities for prospective parents to see Hatherop Castle in action.

Admission to Hatherop Castle is open to all who meet our entry requirements, regardless of gender, race, religious, socio-economic or cultural background. Hatherop Castle is pleased to accept applications for children to join in various age groups and maintains a partially selective policy for admissions. The school is, therefore, mixed ability by nature and in keeping with its aims to provide a balanced, well-rounded education.

Step 1 – Initial Enquiry

Please click on the ‘Make an enquiry’ button above completing as much information as possible.

Step 2 – Enquiry Response

Our Head of Admissions, Mrs Caroline Kirby, will be in contact via telephone to assist further with your enquiry and to answer any questions you might have. Mrs Kirby would also be delighted to arrange a bespoke tour of the school with the Head.

Step 3 – Enjoy a personalised tour with Nigel Reed

This will start with a meeting with Mr Reed, when you can ask any questions you have and Mr Reed will be able to learn a little more about what you are looking for in a school and to give you an insight into life at Hatherop Castle. He will then take you on a tour, visiting different classrooms and the outside space, seeing learning as it happens, so that you can experience life in our happy school. The tour will be tailored according to what interests you most.

Step 4 – Register for a place

Following your meeting with the Head should you wish to register your child(ren) for a place at Hatherop Castle we would invite you to complete the registration form and pay the £100 registration fee.

Step 5 – Offer of a place

Upon receipt of the registration form and fee, subject to a satisfactory school report, academic reference
(academic in school test from Prep 3), and taster day, Mr Reed will make a decision as to offer a place. Mrs Kirby will arrange to send the following documents through to you electronically:

  • Offer Letter
  • Terms & Conditions
  • Medical Form
  • Parental Acceptance Form (£500 deposit for Nursery to Prep 8)

Step 6 – Acceptance

If you wish to accept the offer of a place we ask that you return the relevant documents and deposit. As soon as the forms and payment is submitted, your child’s place at Hatherop Castle will have been secured. Mrs Kirby will confirm receipt with you electronically or via telephone.
